Mario Barron

Mario Barron is based in the South Bay Area and has great plans to liven up the beautiful and bright dance scene of the San Jose area. He was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA where his entire childhood was spent indulging in the arts. Upon being accepted into and attending San José State University where he obtained a BFA in dance performance, Mario spent his time working with wonderful people. Through the Artist in Residency Program, he had the pleasure of working with Mike Esperanza, Doug Varone, Kyle Abraham, and even traveled to Jacob’s Pillow, and The ACDA National Gala Concert for first-time-ever SJSU performances. This was able to happen through the direction of Raphael Boumaila and Heather Cooper. Along with these exciting experiences, other highlights in Mario’s dance career involve his love for choreography.

In 2016 and 2017, he received the Garman Award for Choreography, and even reached further out to make works for the New Ballet School and with the Zohar Dance Company. Currently, Mario will be joining his third season of Cypher Dance Company, as well as teaching high school students and training virtually during the pandemic. Mr. Barron is grateful and thrilled to be working with Montage Dance Studio!
